Conceived as an urban framework rather than a singular object, City Housing Gradski Stan reinterprets the tradition of the European residential block through a contemporary lens. Drawing inspiration from the morphology of Haussmannian Paris, the housing ensembles of Red Vienna, Kay Fisker’s Copenhagen projects, and Rome’s Garbatella district, the project establishes a clear settlement principle based on perimeter blocks enclosing a shared landscape.

Five residential buildings define a sequence of gardens and open spaces, culminating in a large central courtyard conceived as the green heart of the development. Protected by the continuous built edge yet visually connected to the city, this permeable landscape fosters social interaction while maintaining a clear hierarchy between public streets and collective domestic space.

The proposal addresses contemporary housing needs through flexible and diverse apartment typologies designed for different household structures and social groups. Mixed uses at ground level - including commercial spaces, coworking areas and shared amenities - activate the streetscape and strengthen community life.

A shared architectural language unifies the development while variations in colour and material give each building its own identity. Jagger, Richards, Jones, Wayman and Watts together compose a recognisable urban ensemble - an adaptable framework where collective life, landscape and housing coexist within a resilient vision for Podgorica’s future growth.
